Gettin' Shaky with Keri Herman
by: Chip Kalback

Always smilingKerri Herman - always smiling.

Keri Herman is a girl I've known for a few years now. I was first introduced to her at Breckenridge through mutual friends, and I remember taking some laps through the Freeway terrain park and instantly feeling like a complete nancy because she was going bigger on skis than I ever have, hence why I take photo's. Anyway, what stand's out about Keri's style is that she always makes things look easy and she's always having fun doing it; this edit should be proof of that.

In an industry where people sometimes forget to enjoy themselves, Keri stands out as someone who is laughing the whole way to the bank as she's progressing exponentially each season and having a blast while doing it. She's currently riding for Spyder, Jiberish, Salomon, Scott, Discrete, Dakine, and Breckenridge, and you can see more of her in the upcoming Just Passing Thru video.

SOJA play Boulder's Fox Theatre

SOJA putting on an awesome live show

I never would've thought I'd hear about a reggae group coming out of the D.C. area, but I suppose if Bad Brains can do it then SOJA have a good chance at seeing the same success Bad Brains did. SOJA, Soldiers Of Jah Army, formed around '97, but I personally didn't hear of them until their song 'You Don't Know Me' Level 1 Productions' ski flick, REALTIME. Since then I've been a fan of the group and have had the pleasure of seeing them perform live twice now. They're currently touring in support of their new album, Born In Babylon, and recently they just played in Boulder, CO at concert powerhouse Fox Theatre. Their live shows are really what make them stand out to me, and apparently the rest of the sold out crowd who got to see them do what they do best. Check the photo gallery to see what you missed, and if they're headed to your town soon make sure to set aside some ticket money because the price will be well worth what you'll get to see that night.

Reggae On The Rocks 2009

When I saw that Lee "Scratch" Perry was playing in anywhere around Denver I was sold, but when I noticed I'd also get to see Fishbone, The Beat as they're really known, and Steel Pulse I was more than stoked. Each of the listed musical acts are legends in their own right, and their performances exemplified exactly why they're known as legends in the world of reggae music. Whether it's Lee Perry with his most recent release having been produced by electronic music whiz Moby, or Fishbone, a band credited by No Doubt among others as a major musical influence, the $50 ticket was well worth it for concertgoers. Combine the lengthy and eclectic performances from each artist with the overall unbelievable experience that is seeing a concert at Red Rocks, and it's a night that will be hard to forget.
